During lessons your teacher will guide you through basic movements such as sitting, standing, bending and lying down, to demonstrate how to carry out everyday activities with less effort and more efficiency.
These simple movements are carried out with the teacher's non-invasive, hands-on guidance, together with appropriate verbal instruction.
Through experience and observation, you learn how your co-ordination works - how you create tension, and how you can prevent or release it. Your increasing awareness enables you to change long-standing habits, and function more effectively.

The number of lessons you take will depend on your own particular needs and goals. As with learning anything new, your progress will be determined by the amount of time you practise applying the Alexander Technique to your daily life.
